In a written statement, the Turkish Confederation of Employers' Unions (TİSK) Board of Directors stated that they are careful to take decisions that will benefit everyone through negotiations and solidarity during the Covid-19 pandemic, and emphasized that their attitude based on cooperation and dialogue will continue from now on. Thanking all stakeholders, especially the government, for the support and cooperation provided during this period to protect employment and businesses, the TİSK Board of Directors said: “This year, the minimum wage negotiations will take place in the shadow of the extraordinary economic conditions that continue on a global scale. Unfortunately, rising commodity prices all over the world, energy and transportation costs, as well as global problems such as the chip crisis and high uncertainty continue to affect many sectors negatively. On the other hand, the service sector still needs time to recover. For this reason, a balanced minimum wage should be determined by taking into account the conditions of the period. It is more important than ever.”

WE BELIEVE THAT A REASONABLE LEVEL WILL BE REACHED

Pointing out that their first priority is the sustainable welfare of the country and its employees, as always, the TİSK Board of Directors made the following statements: “In this process, we are in close consultation with our government, our labor confederations, especially with 'Türk-İş' labour syndicate, and our businesses in 81 provinces. We are the biggest supporter of all kinds of decisions that increase the life quality of our employees and add value to our businesses. We believe that a reasonable level of consensus will be reached by considering both global inflation and other factors affecting the competitiveness of our country for the minimum wage. In a year when global competitive balances are so critical, we see the gradual reduction of tax rates from 15 percent to 40 percent on all wages, especially the minimum wage, as the only formula and solution that will reduce the pressure on employees and employers.”
