Eleven suspects having links to the New Year's Eve terror attack on an Istanbul nightclub appeared in court late Friday, a judicial source said. The Istanbul Courthouse ordered the suspects including the suspected nightclub attacker Abdulgadir Masharipov's wife Zarina Nurullayeva to be remanded on charges of attempting to change the constitutional order and membership to an armed terror organization, according to the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media.
Among the suspects were Bakhtiiar Abdurashidov, Matitibake Tusunmaimaiti, Maimaiti Jumainiyazi, Sabri Benthabet, Adili Salimu, Islam Magomedov, Tuersung Xianmixiding, Abdullah Turkistanli, Rakhnamo Zaidzhankizi and Gulsaya Tlegenova.
At least 39 people, including a police officer, were killed when suspected attacker, Abdulgadir Masharipov, opened fire on partygoers at the Reina nightclub in the Ortakoy district early New Year’s Day. Masharipov was arrested last week on the outskirts of Istanbul.
