While it is stated that this number will double with the detection of children living on the street and missing, it is noteworthy that most orphans are found in countries with a high Muslim population such as Bangladesh, Pakistan, Indonesia and India.

On the occasion of the 15th Ramadan World Orphans Day, announced as a result of the application of the IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, "2021 Orphan Report" was published by IHH INSAMER. The report underlines that millions of children are orphaned due to wars, natural disasters, illness and poverty, while half of these children live on the streets without any interest or relevance. It was emphasized that unfortunately, children without parents and guardians fell into the hands of organs, prostitution mafias, beggar networks, warlords and missionary organizations.

Reminding that the real number cannot be determined due to the difficulty of reaching the missing children living on the streets, the report estimates that the real figure will reach 400 million.

MAJOR CAUSE NATURAL DISASTERS

In the report, which emphasized that natural disasters are undoubtedly one of the most common causes of orphanhood, it was reminded that nearly 750 thousand people lost their lives in natural disasters that occurred in the last 20 years. In the report, in which hundreds of thousands of children were left orphans or unprotected as a result of these disasters and deaths, "79 percent of these deaths were experienced in fragile countries of Asia such as Bangladesh, Pakistan, Indonesia, India and Philippines.
