The economic crisis continues, increasing its impact with the exchange rate crisis and inflation that have been experienced since 2018.

While the government tried to find other reasons for the economic crisis with its rhetoric, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's statements regarding the low interest policy made the crisis even bigger.

While the government, which has recently drawn attention to wages regarding high inflation, leaves citizens alone with high inflation, the difference between rhetoric and reality is striking.

Reminding the statement made by the Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mehmet Şimşek, that high wage increases trigger inflation, Şerafettin Deniz, President of AVAZ Research and Strategy Center, stated that the facts are not like that.

"In the last 2 years, the amount paid for wages in total income has decreased from 32 percent to 27 percent. If it were really as they say, inflation would have to fall or remain stable. However, as far as we can see, inflation continues to soar," Deniz said.

“IN THE PAST, INTEREST DISCOURSES, TODAY, INFLATION-WAGE DISCOURSES”

Reminding President Erdoğan's insistence on interest rates in the past, Deniz stated that the interest rate application further accelerated the crisis and said, "The government's discourses about interest in the past and its discourses about inflation today do not match each other. The point we have reached after the discourses is obvious. Statements that wages increase inflation and the path followed create the crisis created by interest rate statements and practices in the past. The government's statements on the economy do not match the facts."
