The Board of Presidents of the Pensioners' Association of Turkey, chaired by the Chairman Kazım Ergün, convened in Ankara to evaluate the agenda of Turkey and the retirees. In the concluding statement of the meeting, it was emphasized that the basic principles that ensure national unity and cannot be changed in the Constitution should be preserved forever, including the demands of supporting the low-income groups, especially the retirees, and the payment of the lowest pension by reducing the minimum wage to the minimum wage level.

SALARY OF THOSE RETIRED AFTER 2000 CONTINUOUSLY DECREASE

The statement included the following statements: “The retiree's adjustment problem should be resolved by 2022 at the latest. The 'retirement calculation mixed system', which victimized those who retired after 2000 and reduced their pensions, increased the inequality between pensions. For this reason, the pension calculation system, which reduces the pensions every year, should be changed, and a 'single monthly calculation system' should be introduced for the periods worked.

"Since the CPI-indexed percentage hikes have turned into a system that makes our retirees with low salaries victimized, article 55 of the Law No. 5510 should be changed and a share of welfare should be given along with the constant hikes. In order to ensure the unity of norms and standards in pensions and social payments, an indicator system should be adopted, as in the period of Law No. 506, and the lower limit of pension allocation rate should be determined as 70 percent," it was added.
