Retirees held a rally in Ankara against loss of rights. Retirees called for an additional raise in their salaries and a reduction in the rising basic food prices, with a rally organized by the All Retirees' Union and the Retirees' Solidarity Union at the Ankara Anıt Park Rally Area.
Retirees in the rally area complained about the difficult living conditions and called for fair sharing.
Emphasizing that the economic conditions are getting worse, the President of the Pensioners' Solidarity Union Mahinur Şahbaz pointed out that the retirees are important members of the society.
"We do not accept being ignored in the budget. Our salaries below the poverty line are not enough. The pension of 4 million retirees, widows and orphans is less than 2,500 TL. The fact that the pension was not updated at the inflation rate paralyzed our lives. We want our rights. We want solutions to our problems, we want to live a humane and dignified life. We want our holiday bonuses to be at a level that will make the feast, we want the exorbitant hikes to be removed," she said.
“THE MAIN PROBLEM IS NOT THE SOURCE, IT IS THE DISTRIBUTION”
"All Retirees Union" President Zeynel Abidin Ergen, who stated that they came together to announce the problems of retirees, emphasized that retirees could not get along and drew attention to the need to increase their pensions according to the inflation rate.
"As a result of our observations, we realized that the poorest part of the society is the retirees after the unemployed. After the retirees said we can't make a living, every product was hiked, we said we can't heat, we can't shelter, they increased electricity and gas. They directed them to private hospitals in the fields of health for the elderly. When it comes to retirees, it is said that there is no source, but there is a source. The real problem is how resources are distributed," he said.
