‘Memur-Sen’ Labour Union Chairman Ali Yalçın and Retired ‘Memur-Sen’ Chairman Ali Küçükkösen attended the meeting.
YALÇIN: “NO RIGHT TO ORGANIZATION CANNOT BE ACCEPTABLE OF RETIRED PEOPLE”
Speaking at the meeting, Yalçın emphasized that retired civil servants are subject to collective agreements, but they do not have the right to be organized, emphasizing that this is a contradiction. Yalçın said, “Retirees are subject to the current collective agreement. It is within the responsibility and scope of the collective agreement. However, retirees do not have an area to affect the collective agreement. There are 2,100,000 retirees who are directly affected by the collective agreement. However, since they do not have the right to be organized, the demands cannot be strongly defended at the table.”
IT IS IMPORTANT FOR RETIRED PEOPLE TO UNIONIZE
Emphasizing the importance of unionization of retirees, “There is a large unorganized mass. Keep giving hope to this audience and making this audience believe. Knowing the value of this work, we will expand the framework of this movement and enlarge its majesty and ultimately, retirees will have the right to be unionized. This will be in Turkey. You must be the one to achieve it,” Yalçın added.
“WE REACHED THE NUMBERS OF 9,000 MEMBERS”
Retired ‘Memur-Sen’ President Ali Küçükkösen stated in his speech that their unions have accomplished important works in the last year. Küçükkösen said, “We are organized in 81 provinces and we are organized in more than 300 districts. We have reached 9,000 members. ‘Of two organizations with the same technical equipment, the one with strong internal solidarity comes to the fore,’ says Ibn Khaldun. We have to increase our internal solidarity. Every disciplined effort has multiple products. We were a few yesterday. Now we have grown enough to organize in the districts, thank God."
