In the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), there were fierce debates in the Plan and Budget Committee meetings of the bill that brings the right to retirement for the EYT. Members of the EYT Association participated in the proposal work, as well as representatives of the deputies and non-governmental committees.
THE OPPOSITION SAYS PENSION BE 8,500 TL
Opposition deputies, who expressed their reactions by opening banners in the commission hall before the meetings, said that the victimization of Social Security Organization for Artisans and the Self-Employed (Bağ-Kur) members, apprentices and interns continues. AKP Group Deputy Chairman Muhammet Emin Akbaşoğlu announced that the cost of the regulation to the budget would be 194,4 billion TL, while the Minister of Treasury and Finance Nureddin Nebati announced that the cost would be 255 billion TL. Criticizing the missing parts of EYT with the banners they opened before the meetings, the opposition deputies drew attention to the grievances of the Bağ-Kur members, apprentices and interns, and demanded that the minimum pension be increased to 8,500 TL.
EYT COSTS 194,4 BILLION TL
According to the impact analysis of EYT submitted to the commission, 2,2 million people are expected to retire this year when the law is passed. Of the 2,2 million people who could retire immediately, 1,7 million are workers, 89 thousand tradesmen and farmers, and 496 thousand public employees. However, in the coming years, 3,5 million workers, 619 thousand tradesmen and farmers, 669 thousand civil servants will be able to retire under the law. According to the impact analysis prepared with the assumption that 25 percent of the insured will retire and new personnel will be recruited, the cost of pension, 1,100 TL holiday bonus and 4/b premium loss to the Social Security Institution (SGK) will be 144,7 billion TL in the period of March 2023. 49,7 billion TL will be a burden on the budget through public personnel. Thus, in the 10-month period of this year, the total cost will be 194,4 billion TL.
