The ruling AKP lawmaker Mustafa Yeneroglu resigned from the party on Wednesday.

Mustafa Yeneroğlu made the following statement:

"You know a lot of issues that he has spoken out loud lately. I was elected as a member of Central Decision and Board of Directors (MKYK). The damage Turkey's image, I shared my criticism for the elimination of human rights violations. I did not attend the last two MKYK meetings because I had no hope of finding a response to these ailments or that these ailments could be improved. And I resigned from MKYK membership. Today, Mr. Fatih Sahin called the headquarters. We are facing a process that damages the reputation of the AKP organizations should return to the principles of freedom, stating that we need to take a participatory way. Mr. Secretary General stated that these were discussed in a friendly environment and that a decision was reached to resign.

I did not enter politics with any account. There was no such request as to whether I should resign from the deputy. The criticism of Erbakan Hodja during the establishment of the AKP is much more violent today. I didn't grow up in an authoritarian education system. I grew up in an individuality that says that it is true in every environment. I fought for it. In many friends in Turkey's future point I know that there are very serious conditions. Many of our friends share that the point we have reached today is not good and the point of development of this is still in the AKP.

I expect it to be more pluralistic, more participants of all political parties in Turkey. In terms of conservatives, I think there can be no party that rejects Alevis and Kurds. Speaking as the AKP, the party has envisaged the establishment of a think Turkey. I can also resign as a member of parliament."

Following Yeneroglu's resign, the AK Party now holds 290 seats in the parliament, while the Republican People’s Party (CHP) has 142 seats, Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) 65, Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) 49, Good (IYI) Party 39, Felicity (Saadet) Party 2, Turkish Workers Party 2, Democrat Party (DP) 1, Grand Unity Party (BBP) 1, and independents hold 4 seats.
