Felicity (Saadet) Party Deputy Chairman Hasan Bitmez, in his press release, shared with the public opinion about the debate which is the agenda of the important controversial issues of 10 percent of the electoral threshold and the need to make changes in the Presidential Government System.
Bitmez, "As the Felicity Party, we call on everyone here; Let's take these steps together. To Turkey, our democracy, our people and our economy. Let us eliminate this trap put forward by the coup d'etat 40 years ago in our country and in our democracy!" he said.
Bitmez, "Unfortunately, Turkey; For nearly 40 years, 10 percent have been suffering from election dam. September 12, we slept up to 5 putschist generals assign to Turkey 40 years this straitjacket. Kenan Evren is dead, but he still has his rules, laws and September 12 regime in force! The biggest dynamite left by the 12 September regime is the 10 percent election threshold and the political institution shaped by this coup regime cannot solve the problems of our country. 10 per cent threshold, Turkey's deeply affecting much of a problem area political life after 1980, democracy is an application which left paralyzed. It is very, very important for our democracy to be brought to the agenda and eliminated," he said.
POLITICS TAKE POSITION ACCORDING TO OWN CONDITIONS
Underlining that there was no progress on this issue as a result of the political actors taking a position on the 10 percent dam according to the change of their own conditions, Bitmez said, "It was criticized by many groups and offered to be removed; what a pain; Those who favored its timely abolition became the most fervent advocate when circumstances changed. Oddly enough; this dam, implemented by the coup plotters to obstruct politically the people; It is also strongly defended during the 17-year period of conservative power."
DAM IS AN OBSTACLE FOR A EQUAL RACE
Emphasizing that the 10 percent threshold not only causes injustice in representation, it also causes inequality in the Treasury aid given to the parties. "As a result of this system, there is a separate injustice regarding“ Treasury aid. Taxes collected from the entire nation should be distributed equally among the parties that the nation votes for, and for a democratic race under equal conditions, the weirdness of the dam should be eliminated."
We're right in our worries
To a question asked by journalist, 'As a result of the revised debates in the presidential system, Should we return to the parliamentary system?' Bitmez pointed out that the following answers about these discussions:
"Before the referendum, we expressed our concerns and shared our concerns. Unfortunately, our concerns about a year ago were right. We have seen that this system is problematic in the process of local elections. The continuation of ties with the President's party contradicts the understanding that will embrace the whole society and embrace the institutions in a balanced way."
THE PRESIDENT MUST BE EQUAL TO ALL PARTIES
"All sides of society should stand equal to the president. If not, he said, if he participated in the election activities of a party and accused the other parties, after a while we said that different segments of the society polarized with each other, divided into camps, and unfortunately we were right in these warnings during the previous election process. There are presidential candidates supported by the parties, but ‘I have a party. I am the president of this party toplum society, state, nation, institutions face a serious problem."
THE PRINCIPLE OF FORCE SEPARATION MUST BE ESTABLISHED
Bitmez ended his description with the following call:
"The principle of separation of powers must be established, all powers should not be gathered in the hands of one person, the system should be in accordance with our democracy and should not allow polarizations and campings. As the Felicity Party, we call on everyone; Let's take these steps together. To Turkey, our democracy, our people and our economy. Let's help Turkey to take a breath. Let us eliminate this trap put forward by the coup mentality 40 years ago in front of our country and our democracy!"
