Saadet Party Gebze District President Mustafa Turel and Saadet Party Gebze District Executive Board members came together for the Hünkar Çayırı project, which has been unending for a long time, and made a press statement. The press release was met with great interest by local press members. In his press statement, Mustafa Turel asked some questions about the Hünkar Çayırı project, which was promised to the people of Gebze but no concrete steps have been taken for 3 years, to Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tahir Büyükakın and Gebze Mayor Zinnur Büyükgöz.

“WHY IS THE HÜNKAR ÇAYIRI PROJECT NOT DONE?”

Saadet Party Gebze District President Mustafa Turel stated that Hünkar Çayırı has an important place in terms of cultural tourism and said, “We are followers of the Hunkar Çayırı project. Why is the Hünkar Çayırı project, which will contribute to Gebze's cultural tourism, not carried out? As 'Hünkar Çayırı', where Fatih Sultan Mehmet had his tent set up for the last time and died due to illness. 133 decares of the known land was given to a private foundation that did not belong to the public for 30 years. Gebze showed its loyalty and did not remain indifferent to this event. Giving the historical place to the foundation was met with a reaction in Gebze. As a result of the reactions, it was prevented from being donated to the foundation.”

“EVEN AFTER 3 YEARS HAVE PASSED, NO CONCRETE STEPS HAVE BEEN TAKEN”

Mustafa Turel drew attention to the promises made for the Hünkar Çayırı project, “In the 2019 local elections, Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tahir Büyükakın and Gebze Mayor Zinnur Büyükgöz; They stated that Hünkar Çayırı will be brought to the fore with its historical mission among the national gardens projects, and the memories of Fatih Sultan Mehmet will be kept alive with the project to be implemented. Although 3 years have passed, concrete steps have not been taken yet. The lack of any concrete work in Hünkar Çayırı greatly upset the people of Gebze. Why this indifference to the place and heritage of a sultan who opened and closed an era? Why this historical site not included in tourism? Mr. Büyükakın and Mr. Büyükgöz, what and who are you waiting for?” he added.
