Mustafa Kaya, Deputy Chairman of Saadet Party and Deputy of Istanbul, reacted sharply to the US policies that would increase the tension in Cyprus.
Reminding the process in which the United Nations and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) authorities came face to face in Cyprus, especially in recent days, Kaya said that the USA acted in an attitude that increased the tension in Cyprus and disrupted diplomatic negotiations.
KAYA REACTS TO THE US DECISION
Kaya condemned his decision to lift the arms embargo against the Greek Cypriot Administration (GCA) in 2020 and extended the said decision, which he expanded, for one year as of October 1, 2023.
"We support the rightful reaction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). It is also unacceptable for the USA to refer to the Greek Cypriot Administration as the 'Republic of Cyprus' in the text of the resolution. We state once again that the use of the term 'Republic of Cyprus' for the Greek Cypriot Administration is an imposition and irresponsibility. TRNC is an independent and sovereign state. The whole world will have to accept this fact sooner or later," Kaya said.
