With the campaign launched under the Istanbul Provincial Presidency, exactly 1 million heirloom will be distributed to the citizens.

At a time when the food problem was getting deeper, Felicity (Saadet) Party launched a strategic campaign on seeds. Saadet Party will distribute exactly 1 million heirloom to the citizens in order to draw attention to the importance of ancestral seeds, to contribute to their transfer to future generations and to increase their use. With the heirloom sharing campaign, 27 seed varieties from tomatoes to peppers, pumpkins to okra, melons to watermelons will be delivered free of charge to citizens who demand. Saadet Party Istanbul Provincial Chairman Ömer Faruk Yazıcı stated that they organized an heirloom sharing campaign as an awareness work within the Istanbul Provincial Presidency, and said, “With this work, we will cooperate with you, our sensitive and responsible citizens, in order to leave the soil, environment and nature to the next generations better than we found them. We want to take a step forward.”

The highlights of the statement that Yazıcı made about the heirloom sharing campaign are:

“FOR YEARS, OUR ANCIENTS HAVE PLANTED SEEDS AND TURNED IT INTO PRODUCTS”

“For centuries, our ancestors planted the seed, grew it, turned it into a crop, consumed it healthily, and set aside a part of the produced crop to use the seed. In this way, seeds have survived to the present day as the greatest gift that can be transferred from generation to generation.

“THE FATHER SEED IS THE SEED WITHOUT GENETIC INTERFERENCE”

As you know, ancestral seeds are seeds that have not been genetically modified, whose DNO sequence has not been altered by any intervention in a laboratory environment, and whose flavor and nutritional values are high. Since these seeds do not lose their fertility, they can reproduce and have a sustainable feature.

“ONE TYPE OF SEED IS FORCED”

Obligation of Genetically Modified Organism (GDO) hybrid or single type seed, which has become widespread in the world and in our country, causes many health problems, food addiction and hunger. That's why it is very important to use ancestral seeds.

"WE AIM TO BE TRANSFERRED TO THE FUTURE GENERATIONS"

In order to draw attention to the importance of heirlooms, to contribute to their transfer to future generations and to increase their use, I hope that the seeds we share with you will multiply with abundance, and I present my respects,” Yazıcı added.

CITIZENS CAN REQUEST HEIRLOOMS FROM THIS ADDRESS

Citizens will be able to request the ancestral seeds they demand at www.atatohumu.org.

“WE AIM TO PRODUCE OUR OWN SEEDS INSTEAD OF IMPORTED SEEDS”

“We do not want to be dependent on outside. We aim to produce and reproduce our own seeds instead of imported seeds. We advocate the abolition of purposeful quotas that make our producers and country's agriculture dependent on multinational and global companies. We support organic agriculture and the free circulation of seeds in order to give a more livable world to future generations in our world where natural resources are depleted,” Yazıcı said.
