Saadet Party Hatay Deputy Assoc. Dr. Necmettin Çalışkan paid a congratulatory visit to the Hatay Press Association (HBC).

He went to the congress last week and congratulated the Chairman of the Hatay Press Association, Hikmet Otuzbir, and its members, and wished them success in their duties.

Çalışkan stated that the press is needed more than ever for the city to rise strongly and that they are making intense efforts to solve the city's problems at every opportunity.

"We continue to convey the situation in Hatay, its deficiencies, mistakes and what needs to be done as soon as possible," Çalışkan said.

"HATAY'S GEOPOLITICAL POSITION SHOULD NOT BE NEGLECTED"

Stating that the most important problem of our citizens is in the provision of shelter and water, Çalışkan said, "People continue to live in tents to earn a living by receiving rent support. Hatay, one of the locations hit very hard by the earthquake, should be declared a special disaster area immediately. It is already too late for this. It has strategic importance as it is a border province. For this reason, this place should definitely not be evacuated and the return of people should be ensured to a large extent. Hatay's geopolitical position should not be neglected due to demographic structure change and engineering. Along with all these, big investments must be made in education, health, transportation, infrastructure and industry so that people can return to Hatay faster."

"THERE IS CONFUSION IN DAMAGED BUILDINGS"

In the continuation of his statement, "Another of the biggest problems in earthquake regions is what will happen to the damaged buildings. The change in decision about whether the moderately damaged buildings will be demolished permanently causes serious unrest among the citizens. If it is not to be demolished, it is not yet known under what conditions and when reinforcement will be allowed. Without doing a ground survey, without giving clear answers to the questions of on-site transformation, without determining what the subsidy will be given by the public and how it will be done, we are faced with a situation in which it is unknown what will happen to those with moderate damage," Çalışkan added.

In addition to Deputy Çalışkan, Saadet Party Hatay Provincial President Mehmet Harputluoğlu, Saadet Party Antakya District President Fadıl Koçak and party board members were also present during the visit.
