Saadet Party Antalya Deputy Şerafettin Kılıç submitted a parliamentary question to the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), requesting the Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca to answer regarding the problems of dentists.
Questions regarding the appointment of dentists and family dentistry, which were previously announced but could not be implemented outside of a few provinces, are expected to be answered.
"BOTH STUDENTS AND CITIZENS ARE VICTIMIZED"
Drawing attention to the constantly increasing quota and number of faculties in dentistry, Kılıç pointed out that students are victimized during education and citizens are also victimized afterwards due to inadequate appointments.
Kılıç pointed out that it was announced that 561 people would be appointed as the second appointment of 2023 regarding dentists, and stated that dentists are waiting for appointment.
"Despite your previous statements regarding family dentistry, the practice is limited to only a few provinces. In addition, no fee is paid to physicians in doctoral training after graduation. While there is a shortage of academicians in many faculties, there are not enough quotas for the Specialization Examination in Dentistry (DUS). The time and materials allocated for treatment in oral and dental health centers are insufficient," Kılıç added.
“WHAT IS THE NUMBER OF DENTISTS WAITING FOR APPOINTMENT?”
Kılıç included the following questions in the parliamentary question consisting of 7 questions, requesting the Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca to answer:
"How many dentists are currently working in our country? How many of these physicians work in oral and dental health centers within your ministry? How are the number of dentistry faculties and quotas determined? Do you have any efforts to reduce the number of faculty and quota? Will you do any work to provide free of charge educational materials to students of the faculty of dentistry, which they have difficulty in obtaining due to their high costs? How many graduate dentists are waiting for appointment? Do you have a plan for new appointments and the number of physicians to be appointed? When will family dentistry practice start across the country? When will family dentists be appointed? What will be the working conditions of family dentists? In order to facilitate the education of our doctoral student dentists, will you be working to support them financially during their doctorate period? Do you have any work planned to eliminate the lack of materials in oral and dental health centers and to increase the service quality by increasing the treatment time to a sufficient level? If you have a study in this direction, when will you implement it?"
