Felicity (Saadet) Party Deputy Chairman Mustafa İriş made important evaluations on the agenda at the press conference he held yesterday.
Speaking on the subject of food, İriş said that food is indispensable in our lives and therefore our food should be sufficient, healthy and accessible. Noting that our country has a potential power in agriculture and animal husbandry activities, "Therefore, in the production of our basic needs, agriculture and animal husbandry need special care and comprehensive support. Planning, incentives and follow-ups are important in agriculture. The preparation and delivery of the products produced to the consumer is also of particular importance. In fact, the processes of delivering not only food products but also other basic needs to the consumer are very important. The trade of all food and necessities constitutes a large market. This market is the market of our 85 million people. While both quality and price/cost studies are planned and carried out correctly at every stage of production, the structuring in the market should be followed meticulously," he said.
“FOOD AND SUPPLEMENTS MARKET CANNOT BE LEAVED TO THE POWER AND MONOPOLY OF A FEW BRANDS”
Mustafa İriş stated that it is not possible to contribute to the welfare of the people with practices such as “direct sale points” and “cooperative markets” that look like straw flames.
Noting that the food and necessities market cannot be left to the power and monopoly of a few families and a few brands, İriş said, "The time has come and passed for this market, which has an extraordinary employment and development potential in terms of both production and trade, to be reconsidered by our state and to make legal arrangements in a fair way. Because these monopolized structures are gradually moving towards monopolization not only in the commercial field but also in production. While they provide ten jobs, they destroy a hundred jobs. Because of these monopolies, our young people's enthusiasm for enterprise is extinguished. They become unable to even imagine starting their own business."
He stated that the vital food and necessities market, which concerns 85 million citizens, is an issue that needs to be restructured and urgently addressed by preventing monopoly and unfair competition in accordance with the conditions of the day, and made some suggestions to the government.
The suggestions presented to the government by Mustafa İriş, Deputy Chairman of Saadet Party, consisted of the following items:
