Felicity (Saadet) Party shared its work over 'Turkey's disabled report' with the public on 3 December International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

It was emphasized that social institutions should confront the reality of disability, and it was pointed out that ministries, local administrations and NGOs that are active in issues such as health, education, transportation and economy should increase their activities.
 
In the report prepared for the World Disability Day on December 3, the problems experienced by disabled citizens were expressed, and the things to be done for disabled citizens were listed. While the researches conducted by independent institutions and organizations were also included, the report stated that there were 2 million 529 thousand 701 disabled citizens in total.
 

DISABLED PEOPLE HAVE EMPLOYMENT PROBLEM

 
A report by the Felicity (Saadet) Party Social Policy Council, the basic problem of discrimination of people with disabilities in Turkey, employment and post-employment integration into working life, education, grouped under headings such as environmental issues and care dependency. In the report, which draws attention to the employment-related problems of disabled people, the irrational criteria applied in the recruitment of disabled citizens, regardless of their competence, were mentioned as the main problems.
 

FRIENDLY PROJECTS MUST BE IMPLEMENTED FOR DISABLED PERSONS

 
In the report, it was emphasized that all social institutions should face the reality of disability, and it was pointed out that ministries active in matters such as health, education, transportation and economy should increase their activities in this regard. In the report, which includes suggestions for solutions, “Detailed statistics on disabled citizens should be kept and developments should be followed. Disabled-friendly family-marriage policies should be developed for disabled adults who want to get married to set up a home. Education services for people with disabilities should be strengthened. A special education coordinator should be assigned in each school. In line with the interests, abilities and competencies of disabled students, the transition between the levels should be planned. It was said that all students with disabilities who continue their higher education should be given a non-refundable scholarship at a minimum wage level, regardless of their income level.
 

DISABLED INDIVIDUALS SHOULD BE ENCOURAGED TO WORK

 
In the report, which includes proposals for employment solutions for disabled citizens, "Vocational rehabilitation activities for disabled individuals with labor force qualifications should be strengthened and private vocational training institutions should be established under the roof of İş-Kur in this regard. Employment of disabled individuals in workplaces employing 50 or more workers should be encouraged. The quota in the public should be increased and assigned to all. Alternative employment opportunities such as 'working at home' should be provided to the disabled workforce upon request. Suitable job opportunities should be provided for the disabled workforce. Disability-Friendly Occupational Health and Safety Should Be Established: Family assistance should be provided to families with disabled children according to the level of disability. According to the disability level of the child, the disabled assistance should be given 1000 TL for those with mild disabilities, 2 thousand TL for those with moderate disabilities, 3 thousand TL for the families of children with severe and multiple disabilities."
 
Felicity Party prepared 'Turkey's disabled report' and solutions were listed as follow:
 
* Detailed statistics on disabled citizens should be kept and developments should be followed.
 
* Disability-friendly family-marriage policies should be developed for adults with disabilities who want to get married to set up nests.
 
* Education services for people with disabilities should be strengthened. A special education coordinator should be assigned in each school. In line with the interests, abilities and competencies of disabled students, the transition between the levels should be planned.
