Haydar Akın, the principal of Mithatpaşa Secondary School in Bursa's Osmangazi district, allegedly instructed teachers to "seat male and female students separately in the classroom."
The instruction, which found wide coverage on social media, caused the reaction of some Kemalist-minded bigots.
As a result of the pressure created, the Ministry of National Education (MEB) announced the dismissal of the school principal, while the Provincial Directorate of National Education launched an investigation on the subject.
The reactions to Haydar Akın's dismissal by the Ministry of National Education had also grown like an avalanche.
Citizens, who stated that the attitude that Akın was exposed to was unacceptable, also reacted to the Ministry of National Education.
Citizens called for Haydar Akın to be returned to his post as soon as possible.
After the reactions, the dismissed school principal Haydar Akın was reinstated.
Making a statement on the subject, Eğitim-Bir-Sen Educators Trade Union Bursa Branch No. 1 President Ramazan Acar said, “Our Haydar Akın principal has been reinstated. A mistake has been made. First of all, our President, I would like to thank everyone who did not spare their support, including our organization and non-governmental organizations.”
