Speaking at the meeting, ÖĞ-DER Chairman Hamdi Sürücü noted that they are pleased with the opening of schools even though the coronavirus outbreak is not over. Sürücü underlined that the problems continued while the schools were opening and that no regulation was made in accordance with the loss of two years of education.

ÖĞ-DER Branch Heads Meeting was held in Ankara. Noting that they are pleased with the opening of schools despite the pandemic period, ÖĞ-DER Chairman Hamdi Sürücü stated that no study has been carried out on the loss of two years despite the opening of the schools.

"Students suffered a two-year loss in education with schools opened and closed during the pandemic period. It was necessary to organize a curriculum suitable for the loss experienced," he said.

"PLANNING MUST BE DONE ACCORDING TO TWO-YEAR LOSS"

Reminding that schools have been opened and closed several times due to the pandemic, Sürücü called for a special preparation for the 2-year losses of students, "How will the loss of two years be compensated with the curriculum, course load and program of two years ago? How will the lessons of the year they have just started? While these questions should be answered, the solution of these questions should not be left to the teachers and students," he added.

Referring to the teacher appointments made in the past days, Sürücü pointed out that there is a shortage of 140,000 teachers and underlined that this gap should be filled with appointments.

"There are 750,000 teachers waiting for assignment. There is a shortage of 140,000 teachers. However, this gap seems to be filled again with paid teaching. It is nothing but paving the way for labor exploitation with the wages given over paid teaching, that is, additional lessons," he said.

"PCR TEST MANDATORY SHOULD BE AVOIDED"

Stating that the PCR test obligation imposed on teachers worries teachers, he underlined that teachers are happy for their students after a long break, but the PCR test obligation puts a barrier in front of this happiness, "PCR testing twice a week is nothing more than forcing teachers to get vaccinated. This issue worries teachers, so this decision should be abandoned," Sürücü said.
