Mustafa Şentop, President of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), participated in the Public Disclosure of the Special Report on Thrust-backs in the Aegean Sea and Drowning Human Rights, prepared by the Ombudsman Institution. Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu, Chief Auditor of the Ombudsman Şeref Malkoç, President of the Council of State Zeki Yiğit, President of the Court of Accounts Metin Yener, some ambassadors and other officials attended the program held in the Turkish Grand National Assembly.

“SHOULD BE DISCLOSED TO THE WHOLE WORLD”

Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Mustafa Şentop stated that the push back by Greece is not just pushback, it is a matter of humanity and said, “Those who did this should be exposed to the whole world, especially Greece. Turkey is the country with the highest number of immigrants in the world. Immigration is a global issue. The main reason for migration is that people are deprived of the opportunity to live in their own lands humanely. Europeans treat white and Christian immigrants differently, and we are aware of this. There is a main reason why it has increased recently. In fact, there is a great demographic movement in the world.”

SOYLU: “LEFT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SEA”

Regarding the push back of migrants by Greece in the Aegean Sea, Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu said, “Some were tied with plastic handcuffs, left in the middle of the sea, and gasoline was poured on some. If we had done one of these, they would have crucified us. Since the beginning of 2011, Turkey has been continuing these efforts with a migration policy, knowing the responsibility and human values.”
