The Felicity (Saadet) Party objected to the annual inflation rate announced by TURKSTAT as 14.60 percent. Holding a press release stating that inflation figures do not reflect the facts, Saadet Party Deputy Chairman Şerafettin Kılıç exhibited the price hikes in basic consumption goods on the table in the last year.

In the press release held at the Saadet Party's İzmir Provincial Directorate, Şerafettin Kılıç underlined that economic figures only mean something when they reflect the truth.

Şerafettin Kılıç, "The inflation figure announced as 14.6 percent does not reflect the fire in the kitchen, the struggle for subsistence, or the troubles of the people," he said.

"THERE IS MUCH DIFFERENCE"

Pointing out the manipulations made in the economy through numbers, Şerafettin Kılıç said, "A collection of numbers that are disconnected from life and people lacks social spirit. The inflation figure announced as 14.6 percent does not reflect the fire in the kitchen, the struggle for livelihood, or the troubles of the people. Anyone who is in trouble for making a living does not believe these numbers anyway. You can only deceive yourself with math games, you cannot deceive the public. Now we are looking at the official figures and the figures we have compiled from the market. There is an abyss between them. There is a saying among the public, 'You don't know how to count or you have never been beaten'. For some reason, when we compared the two tables, this word came to mind."

"AVERAGE INCREASE IN BASIC FOOD MATERIALS 60 PERCENT"

Şerafettin Kılıç said, "Sugar 63 percent, flower oil 136 percent, olive 84 percent, cheese 42 percent, flour 71 percent, tea 30 percent, rice 62 percent, pasta 38 percent, detergent 43 percent, meat 90 percent, chicken meat 50 percent. butter 42 percent, tomato paste 27 percent, milk 88 percent, yogurt 59 percent, bulgur 78 percent, lentil 100 percent, potato 100 percent, tomato 50 percent, egg 133 percent, dry beans 56 percent, coal 24 percent, electricity 12 percent, natural gas 8 percent, olive oil 110 percent, bread increased 20 percent. As it seems quite clear, the average increase in basic items does not fall below 60 percent." Reminding that the government's task is not to change economic data, but to increase the purchasing power of the citizen.
