Saadet Party Konya Deputy and Head of Youth Branch Abdulkadir Karaduman brought traffic accidents to the agenda of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).
Karaduman, who submitted a parliamentary question to the Presidency of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey with the request of Adil Karaismailoğlu, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, asked the Ministry of Transport's efforts to prevent traffic accidents.
"WE EXPERIENCE A 'MARMARA EARTHQUAKE' EVERY SIX MONTHS"
Underlining that countless of our citizens lose their lives in traffic accidents every year, Karaduman said, "In these accidents, there are injuries as well as deaths. As a country, we experience a 'Marmara Earthquake' almost every six months, losing more of the losses we experienced in the Marmara Earthquake, which we experienced in the past and still cause trauma, in traffic accidents. There is a need for a monolithic work and national consciousness in order to prevent and reduce the impact of traffic accidents that deeply affect the media from politics to art, from production to consumption. For this reason, we are curious about the efforts of your Ministry to prevent traffic accidents."
"ARE THERE REASONS ASSOCIATED WITH SERVICE FAULT?"
Karaduman asked the following questions to the Minister of Transport, Karaismailoğlu:
"What is the total number of traffic accidents recorded in the last 20 years? How many of these traffic accidents have legal and administrative proceedings been initiated? How were the results realized? How has the number of accidents occurring due to reasons considered as service defects such as lighting, warning signs, salting, asphalting, lack of overpass and underpass shaped according to years? At what intervals are road maintenance of highways and railways carried out periodically? What are your studies on the prevention of traffic accidents? In which European countries does our country rank in traffic accidents and deaths from traffic accidents? Have developed countries' approaches to traffic accidents been examined?"
