Sivas Iron and Steel Factory (SİDEMİR), which is vital for Sivas and the source of livelihood for approximately 3,000 people, has not been operating for months.
It is eagerly awaited when the situation that causes SIDEMİR workers to suffer will be resolved.
Sivas Iron and Steel Factory, inaugurated by the President of the time, Turgut Özal, was privatized in 1998 and given to Erol Pet before the AKP period.
A trustee has been appointed to 39 companies of Erol Pet, but the uncertainty of SIDEMIR continues.
The situation in the factory, where 600 workers are already victims, came to the fore again with a video that worker Hasan Yıldız shared with a cry to the authorities.
“I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A SALARY FOR 5 MONTHS”
Stating that they, as SIDEMIR workers, have been victims for years and that the factory has not been working for months, Hasan Yıldız said, "As Sivas Iron and Steel Factory employees, we started a path. We haven't been working for 4-5 months, we can't get a salary. No one hears our voice. I will make my voice heard somehow. The landlord has just arrived and says to vacate the house. I have not been paid for 5 months. Do we have to light a fire and show the smoke? A holiday is not a holiday. We can't go shopping to the market. Life has become poison. It is enough."
