According to eyewitnesses, clashes erupted with Palestinian university students after Israeli army troops stormed the East Jerusalem town of Abu Dis.
Witnesses said that the raid had triggered clashes in which Israeli forces used rubber bullets, teargas and live ammunition to disperse stone-throwing Palestinian youth.
According to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, six Palestinians were injured in the melee by rubber bullets, while 10 others suffered temporary asphyxia.
“All injuries were treated at the scene,” the NGO said in a statement released in the wake of the incident.
Israeli forces often stage incursions into the occupied West Bank on claims they are seeking “wanted" Palestinians.
