Özdemiroğlu, President of "Tez-Koop-İş" labour union, evaluated the interim increase of 30 percent to the minimum wage as insufficient.

"This decline in the purchasing power of wages and the almost destruction of seniority in wages is clearly and unequivocally social injustice, an unacceptable situation," Özdemiroğlu said.

“MINIMUM WAGE HAS BECOME A LIVING WAGE”

Özdemiroğlu stated that the minimum wage has now turned into a living wage in our country.

"With the increase in the minimum wage, the wages of millions of workers, mostly in the public sector, will now be paid at or close to the minimum wage. This decline in the purchasing power of wages and the almost destruction of seniority in wages is clearly and unequivocally social injustice, an unacceptable situation," Özdemiroğlu added.

“ALL WAGE SHOULD BE INCREASED”

Özdemiroğlu called for all wages to be raised above the minimum wage level in order to put an end to this injustice, and used following words:

"All wages remaining at the minimum wage level in public institutions should be re-evaluated and increased, and additional arrangements based on collective agreements should be made as soon as possible. The most important point is that there is no permanent method other than the effective fight against inflation in order to achieve a real increase in workers' wages."
