On the first day of strike work, the union management and members gathered in front of the SGK and demanded that their rights be granted. Chairman of the Bureau Memur-Sen Union Yusuf Yazgan, who read the press statement in front of the SGK, said, “Today, as Bureau Memur-Sen Union, we are in the fields in 81 provinces of Turkey. Throughout the week, we will show our determined stance with actions and statements on every platform so that the grievances of the SGK personnel will come to an end and their efforts will not be wasted. Today, we are expressing the problems, grievances and demands of the SGK personnel with a press release in front of the Provincial Directorates of Social Security in Turkey's 81 provinces. On May 17, we will hold a 'Wear in Black' action with all public workers. We will create awareness in our working environments by wearing black clothes.”

STRIKE WILL CONTINUE ALL WEEK

Commenting on the action plans Yazgan noted the following regarding the strike decisions they took: “After our press release today, the petitions regarding the expectations of the employees will be submitted to the document record to be forwarded to the Presidency of the Institution. On Tuesday, May 17, all employees will go to work in black clothes so that they can express their reaction in the social environment. On Wednesday, May 18, there will be a 4-hour stoppage action for going to work 2 hours late in the morning and leaving work 2 hours before the end of the shift. Due to the official holiday on Thursday, May 19, hashtag work will be done at 21.00. On Friday, May 20, work will be stopped full-time,” he added.
