One of two soldiers wounded Wednesday in a clash with PKK terrorists in eastern Bingol province succumbed to his wounds at a hospital, according to a hospital source.
The soldiers were injured during a counter-terrorism operation against the terror group in a rural area in Yeniyazi village of Genc district earlier in the day, the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to media, said.
The other wounded soldier continued to receive medical treatment at Bingol State Hospital, the source added.
More than 1,200 people, including security force personnel and civilians, have lost their lives since the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU -- resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July 2015.
