Mustafa Şentop, President of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (TBMM), held an evaluation meeting on the 27th Legislative Period.
Emphasizing that the Assembly carried out intensive and comprehensive works in the field of legislation and auditing in the 27th term, Şentop said that as a result of intensive work, the Assembly brought into force hundreds of legal regulations and TBMM resolutions that citizens need on various issues.
Expressing that 2,022 files on parliamentary immunity have reached the Presidency of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Şentop noted that the rate of answering the questions submitted by the deputies is 65.4 percent.
Şentop, over Süleyman Soylu and Mehmet Uçum's coup attempt, he said, "It is not correct for me to interpret their intentions. Choice is choice. Coup and intervention is an intervention. Türkiye will hold an election on May 14, 2023."
"THE NUMBER OF IMMUNITIES EXCEEDED 2,000"
Şentop stated that the resolutions were “too many to be considered as reasonable”.
"I regret to state that in the 27th term, a large number of immunity petitions have reached our presidency, which cannot be considered as being within reasonable limits. In this context, together with the 247 resolutions in the 26th legislative year, the number of legislative immunity resolutions sent to the Presidency of the Turkish Grand National Assembly throughout the 27th term, unfortunately, reached 2 thousand," Şentop added.
ANSWER RATE OF QUESTIONS 65 PERCENT
Şentop noted that the response rate of the parliamentary questions submitted by the deputies throughout the 27th term was 65.4 percent.
Şentop pointed out that just before the Presidential Government System, in the 24th and 26th periods when the parliamentary government system was in effect, the rate of answering questions was 60.3 percent and 45.4 percent, respectively.
