While every part of the society was damaged by the economic crisis, the damage was more to the citizens with fixed income. While calling for the government to find a solution regarding the cost of living in relation to the economic crisis, Memur-Sen Confederation of Public Servants Trade Unions Chairman Ali Yalçın said, “Food prices, the cost of living have exceeded their normal course, increasing the rush of public servants and fixed income earners. With additional improvements, it should be ensured that the purchasing power of the civil servant is protected.”
Pointing out that the rate of increase in salaries melted in the face of inflation in the first month, Yalçın stated that a solution should be found regarding the reality of inflation and the cost of living, and added, “In an inflationary environment, either sliding scale should be introduced or inflation should be reduced as soon as possible. We know that the fluctuations in the economy, the increase in fuel, energy and food prices are not only a problem for our country, but also for many countries. Food prices, cost of living have exceeded their normal course, has increased the rush of the worker and the fixed income earner. As we always say, we say it again. The best raise for the fixed-income worker is market stability with zero or very low inflation, either provide stabilization or increase the wages.”

Noting that inflation has ceased to be just a numerical data, but has become the focal point of all segments, Yalçın said, “Our priority is to stop inflation, expand the scope of the steps to be taken regarding inflation, take a totally determined stance in the fight against inflation, and protect the purchasing power by taking additional measures such as the sliding scale system. The aim is not to crush the employees, especially public servants and fixed income earners, under the inflation.”
