The regulation regarding the 50/D research assistants working in the academy with unemployment guarantee was submitted to the Parliament… But the research assistants, who were unemployed after their term expired, called for them not to be forgotten…

Research assistants working in the academy with the status of 50/d were submitted to the TGNA in the coming days along with the staff arrangement for the contracted employees and other amendment proposals regarding the Law No. 2547.

Employees of the academy with unemployment guarantee 50/d, which the Milli Gazete insistently brought to the agenda, expect the problem to be resolved soon. However, 50/d employees who completed their doctorate and became unemployed in this process wonder whether they are also involved in this process.

The cadre expectation of research assistants with 50/d, which is frequently brought up by the Milli Gazete, began to take shape with the statement made by Higher Education Institution (YÖK). While it was stated that research assistants with 50/d will be given the status of 33/a and given the right to cadre, it has been stated that it has been submitted to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey along with other amendment proposals regarding the Law No. 2547. Speaking on the subject, Head of Research Assistants Solidarity Platform Ömer Orbay Çetin called for the process to be carried out quickly and unconditionally. In this process, he underlined that research assistants with 50/d, whose terms have expired recently, should not be forgotten.

“OUR COLLEAGUES THAT HAVE BEEN DISCONNECTED SHOULD BE INCLUDE”

In the draft text prepared at the beginning of the process, Çetin stated that they felt uneasy with the removal of 50/d research assistants from the text, and stated that they started to wait with the statement made by YÖK.

"While we eagerly await the completion of our transition process without any time and conditional, we also hope that our colleagues, who were dismissed due to the 50/d problem in 2018 and after, will be included in the scope and an article for their return to their institutions will be added to the law amendment proposal. We also expect that the phrase 'Those who started working on or before 28 November 2022' in the Law on Contracted Employees, which was adopted yesterday, will not apply to us. Because our colleagues who were appointed on 28 November 2022 and after and started to work as research assistants with 50/d status will not have a chance to switch to 33/a status again," he said.
