While scholarships and student loans applied by students against their expenses during their university education are available to students after graduation, most of the students are given the right to repayable education loans.

Thus, millions of students step into their new life 2 years after graduating from university with thousands of lira debt.

YOUTH THINKING HOW THEY GO OUT OF DEBTS

Young people, who are already struggling with unemployment, are also struggling with Dormitories Institution (KYK) student loan debts.

Young people, who continue their education by taking KYK loans, are thinking about how they will get out of their debts after graduation.

Around 6 million student loan borrowers are considering how to pay their debts with the current economic crisis.

AN UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS RECEIVES MORE THAN 40,000 TL DURING 4 YEARS

There are 2 different types of payments given by the state for students studying at the university. One of them is in the form of a scholarship and the other in the form of a loan.

While repayments are not expected from students who receive scholarships, students who receive loans are required to repay the payments made after graduation.

The amount of scholarships and loans for 2022 is 850 liras for undergraduate students, 1,700 liras for graduate students, and 2 thousand 550 liras for doctoral students.

As of this year, the debt of an undergraduate student who received a scholarship of 850 TL exceeds 40,000 TL, based on only the payments he received when he finished his 4-year school.

PPI NUMBERS CONTINUE TO INCREASING

While the monthly Credit and Dormitories Institution (KYK) payment given to an undergraduate student exceeds 40 thousand TL throughout his student life, an additional producer price index is added at the time of payment.

Although the repayments that start 2 years after graduation are based on the amount of the Producer price index in the months when the payments are made to the students, the deterioration in the economic data, which started especially with the pandemic period, continues, while the Producer price index figures continue to rise every month.

Every increase in PPI figures means an increase in the money students will pay.
