Gülsüm Hanım İhya Girls’ Qur’an Course, affiliated to the Istanbul Fatih Mufti, continues to graduate its students despite the difficult conditions of the pandemic. In this context, within the scope of the "Hafız Project with Formal Education" carried out jointly by the Ministry of National Education (MEB) and the Religious Affairs Administration (Diyanet), the course both sent its students to formal schools and continued their hafiz education. The compulsory holiday of the courses due to the pandemic did not discourage Gülsüm Hanım İhya Girls’ Qur'an Course; students continued their study at home and completed their memorization. 45 female students who completed their memorizations received their certificates at a ceremony held at the Haliç Congress Center. Graduates of Imam Hatip Schools Foundation (ÖNDER) Chairman Abdullah Ceylan, İhya Foundation Chairman Yavuz Baysan, İhya Foundation Chairman of the Board of Trustees İbrahim Yıldırım, Fatih District Mufti Hüseyin Baş, Master of Hafiz students (Reisü'l Kurra) Mehmet Sevinç as well as students, parents and other guests attended the ceremony.

"BEING GRATEFUL IS NOT ENOUGH"

The program started with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an. İbrahim Yıldırım, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the İhya Foundation, made a speech.

“When we were memorizing, our teachers always told us that the Qur'an would be an intercessor in the day of judgement tomorrow. After we became a hafiz, we studied in Imam Hatip schools. We paid the price of being a hafiz and being an Imam Hatip graduate. Our scores were interrupted due to the coefficient application while entering the university. But at this time, the Qur’an began to be an intercessor in this world while we were still alive. Council of Higher Education (YÖK) now allocates a certain quota in each faculty of theology and especially prefers those who are hafiz. This is why our children will begin to feel the blessings of the Qur'an while they are still alive. We can't be so grateful for that," he said.
