The Higher Education Council (YÖK) conducted a survey for “students and academic staff” in order to consult their opinions on online education conducted in higher education institutions during the global epidemic process last week.
 
1 million 255 thousand students from 207 universities and 27 thousand 820 academic staff voluntarily participated in the survey. 
 
The survey will form an important roadmap in the decision-making processes of YÖK's future education and training practices. 78 percent of the students participating in the survey and 94 percent of the lecturers stated that they found it appropriate for YÖK to get the opinion of the Ministry of Health to initiate face-to-face education during the epidemic. It was seen that both students and academic staff supported this policy of YÖK to a large extent.
 

17 PERCENT OF STUDENTS DO NOT HAVE ELECTRONIC DEVICES

 
In the survey reflecting the information that 83 percent of the students and 97 percent of the lecturers have electronic devices that provide access to distance education, it was also observed that 17 percent of the students do not have electronic devices. In the survey, 89.6 percent of the academic staff and 97 percent of the students stated that internet access is sufficient.
 

THE RATIO OF THOSE WHO WANT TO BE FACE-TO-FACE IN THE CLASS 46 PERCENT

 
While 27 percent of the students wanted the education process in the spring term to be face to face, 47 percent preferred online and 26 percent preferred it to be done in a mixed way.
 
46 percent of the students participating in the survey wanted the education process to be face-to-face in the classroom after the Kovid-19 period, 29 percent to be completely online, and 25 percent to be mixed.
