It was decided to gradually close Istanbul Technical University Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in Beşiktaş, Istanbul, on the grounds that it is on the same campus as Ziya Kalkavan Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School.
The closure decision of the Ministry of National Education (MEB) caused reactions. The school in question is shown as a popular educational institution due to its quality of education.
The school, which consists of three departments and provides education in the fields of informatics, electrical-electronics and maritime, is known to host successful students, and 364 students are studying at the school.
On the other hand, very effective work is being carried out for the future of the students with the projects, team work, trainings and conferences held in other classes of the school, where English education is given in the preparatory class.
“A VERY WRONG DECISION”
The Ministry of Education's decision to close Istanbul Technical University Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School was met with reaction from educators. Experts gave their opinions to Milli Gazete regarding the issue.
"In an environment where everyone states that our country will get back on its feet with vocational education and that vocational education should be supported, it is necessary to support a school where qualified education is given and to do whatever is necessary, let alone support a school that will have a great future, without thinking of any alternatives, without producing solutions and by choosing the easiest one. Closing it is a very wrong decision," experts said.
“SAD AND AMAZING”
Educators who spoke to our newspaper about the closure of Istanbul Technical University Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School also stated that the situation in question was sad and surprising.
"This decision means directing the children with high scores in LGS to Anatolian high schools and science high schools. At a time when the quality of those schools is already decreasing, at a time when we see the disadvantages of students graduating from high school being unemployed, at a time when the army of unemployed university graduates is increasing, how meaningful and meaningful is the decision to close this school? Is it true?" Experts added.
