Many important people are buried in the Sakızağacı Cemetery, where you breathe a different air from the moment you step through its door.
 
Vuslat Association has compiled some of the Islamic elders in the Sakızağacı Cemetery, which hosts the leading names of the Islamic community, from Ali Haydar Efendi to Abdülaziz Bekkine, from His Holiness Mahmud Ustaosmanoğlu to Gönenli Mehmed Efendi, and from Vali Amca to Hakim Anne.
 
Based on this study, we convey some important values in the Sakızağacı Cemetery.
 

CELALEDDIN ÖKTEN

 
Celaleddin Ökten, the founder of imam hatip schools, completed his hafiz at a young age.
 
Ökten, who took lessons from important professors such as Babanzâde Ahmed Naim, Mehmet Akif Ersoy and İsmail Hakkı from İzmir, completed his education at the Faculty of Letters of Darülfünun.
 
Ökten taught at many schools and was the founding director of the Istanbul Imam Hatip School.
 
Celaleddin Ökten donated his 1,000-volume library to the Süleymaniye Library.
 

HIZIR ALI MURADOGLU

 
Hızır Ali Muradoğlu, who completed his primary and secondary education in his hometown of Rize, met Mahmud Efendi in Istanbul, where he came for university education, and left the faculty.
 
Muradoğlu, who devoted himself to Islamic sciences and was the son-in-law of His Holiness Mahmud Efendi, was martyred while he was teaching at the İsmailağa Mosque.
 

NERMIN ÖZÜLKÜ (JUDGE MOTHER)

 
At the end of the hearing, where Mahmud Efendi was tried to be sentenced to death for his sermons and conversations, Judge Nermin Özülkü addressed Mahmud Efendi, "Are you going to say something finally?" she asks.
 
Mahmud Efendi replied, "Dear lady, it is not permissible for you to work here among men."
 
Nermin Özülkü, who became affiliated with Mahmud Efendi under the influence of this answer, is called the Judge Mother. Hakim Anne trained thousands of students after her madrasah education.
 

MAHMUD EFENDI HODJA

 
Born in Trabzon's Of district, Mahmud Efendi completed his memorization at the age of 10.
 
At the age of 16, Mahmud Efendi, who received his license in Islamic sciences education, became the imam of the İsmailağa Mosque after meeting his sheikh Ali Haydar Efendi.
 
His Holiness Mahmud Efendi, who was described as the "Mujaddid of the Century", passed away in 2022.
 

BAYRAM ALI OZTURK

 
Bayram Ali Öztürk, who received his primary, secondary and high school education in Adapazarı, completed his education at Erzurum High Islamic Institute and Atatürk University Faculty of Theology.
 
Bayram Ali Öztürk, who met Mahmud Efendi on the occasion of his uncle, gave lectures on the annotation of letters and was known as the 'Letterist'.
 
Öztürk, who spoke five languages besides Turkish, had a library of twenty thousand volumes.
 
Bayram Ali Öztürk was attacked with a knife and passed away while giving a talk at the İsmailağa Mosque.
 

ALI HAYDAR EFENDI

 
Ali Haydar Efendi, who came to Istanbul after his madrasa education, passed the exam for being a lecturer.
 
Ali Haydar Efendi became the sheikh of the İsmetullah Efendi Lodge located near the Sultan Selim Mosque in 1914.
 
Ali Haydar Efendi, who was tried in the Independence Courts after the proclamation of the Republic, was instrumental in the training of many scholars.
 

MEHMET ÖĞÜTÇÜ (GÖNENLI MEHMED EFENDİ)

 
Mehmet Öğütçü Hocaefendi, known as Gönenli Mehmed Efendi, completed his hafiz training at the age of 12.
 
His Holiness Gönenli, who served as an imam or preacher in many mosques, was promoted to the rank of leader.
 
Gönenli Mehmed Efendi was instrumental in the training of many students with his own efforts and the donations he collected from the people.
 

ENVER BAYTAN

 
Enver Baytan Hoca, who was a student of Gönenli Mehmed Efendi, worked as an imam and preacher for 70 years. Baytan, who has done valuable work for the penetration of morality and spirituality into society, has published a total of 17 books.
 

ABDULAZIZ BEKKİNE

 
Abdülaziz Bekkine went to Gümüşhanevi Lodge on the occasion of His Holiness Mehmed Zahid Kotku and joined Mustafa Feyzi et-Tekfurdağî.
 
Abdülaziz Bekkine, who later became the sheikh of the lodge, played an important role in the training of names such as Milli Görüş Leader Prof. Dr. Necmettin Erbakan and famous intellectual Nurettin Topçu.
 

HAZIM OKTAY BASER (VALİ AMCA)

 
Hazım Oktay Başer, aka Uncle Governor, graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Political Sciences with honors after completing primary school in Çorum and secondary and high school in Yozgat.
 
After serving as district governor in many places, Uncle Governor, who served as deputy governor, deputy general director of police and governor of Konya, became the general director of Milli Gazete after his retirement.
 
Uncle Governor showed an exemplary life for Muslims by not making any concessions from Islam and exiling for this reason while he held important positions in the state.
