Conscious Teachers Association (ÖĞ-DER) Chairman Hamdi Sürücü said in a statement at the meeting that educators were having a hard time and reacted to the harsh intervention of the security forces on private school teachers. Sürücü also stated that the first lesson in the new academic year should be morality and justice, and criticized some of the endless protests against imam hatip schools, “This is the nation that built imam hatip schools, those who are against imam hatip schools are those who are against the nation,” he said.
President of the Conscious Teachers Association (ÖĞ-DER), Hamdi Sürücü, spoke at the opening of the Branch Heads Meeting held at Economic and Social Researches Center (ESAM). While wishing success to the newly appointed twenty thousand teachers, Sürücü also made evaluations about the education season that will start next week.
“THE FIRST COURSE MUST BE ETHICS AND JUSTICE”
Sürücü said, “We are starting the 2022-2023 academic year by reciting bismillah. We recommend that the first lesson of the first day of the week be on morality.” He also appealed to the those concerned. Regarding the harsh intervention of the security forces against the teachers, Sürücü also said, “We are saddened by the harsh intervention of the police against private school teachers. When the Teaching Law is enacted, it will be better understood that private school teachers are not counted as teachers, that they are excluded from this law, and that the law that has been enacted does not cover teachers as it was intended.”
"THE DISTORTED LOOK TO THE TEACHER"
In the continuation of his statements, Sürücü also criticizes the cadre distinction between teachers and said, “If the fully-fledged Teaching Profession Law was enacted, not only private school teachers but also a chronic problem such as paid teaching could have been solved. If a cadre or a contracted teacher cannot complete 10 years for a specialist teacher in the specialist teacher exam, paid teaching that he has done in the past are not counted for the 10 years of teaching required to take the teaching career exam. Let's think about it this way, not counting paid teaching as teaching, saying that teaching in those years was not teaching to a permanent or contracted teacher who wants to be an expert teacher is clearly a scandal and a manifestation of a distorted view of the teacher.”
“THEY GIVE WITH A SPOON AND TAKE WITH A SCOOP”
“Our teachers were crushed by the inflation, which was felt as at least 200 percent in the bazaar market, even though certain rates were officially given regarding the economic distress. It was given with a spoon and taken with a scoop,” he added. Mr. Sürücü stated that the teachers were struggling economically.
“WHO IS AGAINST THE IMAM HATIPS ARE AGAINST THE NATION”
Sürücü also said about some endless outbursts in the recent period, “The statements of some vain singer or people who are president of a political party and compare their own work with the work in the life of our Prophet (PBUH) are nothing but a waste of time for this society and our nation. We are against the perception operation that is always made against imam hatips by showing only a few bad ones among the imam hatip community and the people who grew up there. It is this nation that built Imam Hatip schools. Those who are against imam hatip schools are also against the nation. After such events, it is generally mentioned that there is always a double standard regarding the law regarding judicial proceedings. The only solution to salvation in all of these is to look at what Islamic rules, Islamic morality and law say.”
