Trade unions are wondering what kind of remedial education program will be implemented in the summer months, and the teachers in question cannot plan their summer programs already.
The Minister of National Education (MEB) Ziya Selçuk announced that there will be remedial education as of June. Following this statement made in the last few days before June, teachers who will apply the remedial education await the announcement of it by the Ministry of Education.
"TEACHERS SHOULD LEARN THE PROCESSES EARLIER"
The uncertainty in the program of remedial education, which is announced to begin in June, makes teachers nervous. With the Kovid-19 outbreak, the negativities in the field of education are still on the agenda. While teachers want to get information from the planned programs earlier, unions demand that teachers be included in the process and their anxiety should be reduced.
"THE DELAY IN THE SHARING OF THE PROGRAM RESULTED FROM THE PANDEMIC"
Eğitim-Bir-Sen education union General Secretary Latif Selvi, who stated that the program related to compensatory education was prepared, but that its sharing with the public was delayed due to the ambiguous statements experienced during the pandemic period, "When the Scientific Committee establishes ambiguous statements, makes some evaluations about the pandemic, sometimes it is a statement that will shed light on normalization, and at the same time they highlight the precaution, unfortunately, even if the infrastructure work is done early and fast in these studies, public sharing may not be made. However, I saw that the MEB completed the preparations for make-up education. It is of course important to be able to announce the programs earlier and to inform them as of the beginning of May, but the basis of the work is not related to education and the preparation of the ministry, but there is a situation related to the ambiguity during the pandemic period," he said.
“TEACHERS NEED TO KNOW”
Underlining that it is necessary to act in cooperation with teachers in order to eliminate the negativities caused by the epidemic process in education, Anadolu Education Union President Mehmet Alper Öğretici, "The remedial education program has caused problems since September, especially in the distance education process, for example, when the decision to open a school tomorrow was taken, as the teachers did not know about it. We think that the problems experienced in remedial education due to these difficulties should be explained earlier and teachers should also know what to do," he said.
