Teachers' eyes are on the 'Teaching Vocational Law', which was first announced within the scope of the '2023 Education Vision' program and finally announced by President Tayyip Erdoğan in the opening speech of the 20th National Education Council. Educators reacted to the fact that the draft text of the law is ready and will be presented to the Parliament soon, and that the teachers, who are the addressees of the law, do not have any information about the law.
TEACHERS ARE LOOKING FORWARD THE LAW
With the "Teaching Vocational Law" announced in 2018 within the scope of the "2023 Education Vision", it was planned that "restoring the honor of teachers", "material and moral improvement in personal rights", "making the teaching profession a specialization profession" and "providing 3600 additional indicators." It is stated that despite the time that has passed, it is still ready as a draft. Teachers who are looking forward to the 'Teaching Vocational Law' prepared as a draft, left wondering.
“SHOULD BE SHARED WITH EVERYONE AT THE STAGE OF BECOMING LAW”
Latif Selvi, Secretary General of ‘Eğitim-Bir-Sen’ (Public Servants Union), underlined that the main framework of the Law on the Teaching Vocational came to the fore with the explanations made, noting that they expect the Law to come to the Parliament, and said, “For now, we know the subject within the scope of certain frameworks of the law. The law will not be clarified before it comes to the Parliament, but we want it to be shared with everyone during the enactment phase."
“THE LAW CAN BE BETTER BY SHARE”
Underlining that there is no information on the studies related to the Teaching Vocational Law, Hamdi Sürücü, Chairman of the Conscious Teachers Association (ÖĞ-DER), pointed out that sharing the studies on the Law would be beneficial for the law to come to a better point, and said, "As ‘ÖĞ-DER,’ in 2019, we published a report on the law and shared our report and our views on the law. The promise made in 2018 is now on the agenda again. Both the Minister of National Education (MEB) and President made statements. We want the works and information on the law to be shared with teachers and NGOs (STK) who are the addressees of the subject. With these shares, the law can be brought to a better state."
“CONTENT MUST BE SHARED WITH TEACHERS RIGHT AWAY”
Noting that the Vocational Law has been waiting in draft form for years, Anatolian Education Union (AES) Chairman Mehmet Alper Öğretici, stated that the enactment of the Law is very important and said, “The 'Teaching Vocational Law', which should include many parts from the training of our teachers to their retirement, came to the agenda again due to the November 24 Teachers' Day and glad tidings were given. In addition, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a statement in the 20th National Education Council that it would be held as soon as possible. However, the contents of the Teaching Vocational Law, which is pending in draft form, are not known by the stakeholders and teachers. As top priority, the draft of the Teaching Vocational Law should be opened to the views of all stakeholders as soon as possible.”
