Private sector teachers, frequently brought up by the Milli Gazete, will gather in Ankara today to announce their problems. With the call of the Private Sector Teachers' Union, teachers will try to make their voices heard for the solution of employing at or below the minimum wage and insecurity problems. Due to the event where teachers from all over Turkey will come together, the teachers set out for Ankara from their cities. While teachers working in the private sector continue to work with problems such as low wages, under-insurance and mobbing, institutions continue to not give teachers their due instead of finding solutions to problems.
“WE CAN'T RECEIVE SUMMER SALARY, SO WE ARE ON THE ROADS WITH HITCHHIKE”
Hogır Öztemel, who set out to participate in the action to be held in Ankara and is a geography teacher in a private education course in Mardin, stated that they set off to Ankara by hitchhiking due to the financial difficulties they had, and said, “Two friends from Mardin hitchhiked together. We are coming to Ankara. Our aim here is to convey our requests regarding our personal rights to the Ministry. We can no longer tolerate the ignoring of private sector teachers. We do not accept the Ministry's discrimination between teachers. They leave us at the mercy of the bosses. We want this to end as soon as possible. With the action, we demand the re-enactment of the base salary law. We know that the audits are not carried out properly and we want this to be regulated as well. We barely make a living because we can't get a salary in the summer. In order to be able to come to this action, we preferred hitchhiking as the most suitable mode of travel.”
THE MAIN THEME IS COMING OF THE BASE SALARY APPLICATION
The main theme of the action, which will be held with the slogan ‘Enough is enough’, will bring together private sector teachers from all over Turkey, and the main theme will be the demand for the re-enactment of the base salary application, which was terminated in 2014. Teachers will demand their grievances to end.
