The survey conducted by the Public Employees Union of the Turkish Education, Training and Science Services Branch on the occasion of Teachers' Day revealed the devastated state of the teachers.

Turkish Education, Training and Science Services Branch Public Employees Union (Türk-Egitim-Sen) conducted a survey on "November 24 Teachers' Day Report on Economy, Profession, Educational Administration and Teaching Profession Law".
 
While 21,412 teachers participated in the survey, the results of the survey revealed the deplorable situation of the teachers.
 

12.50 PERCENT OF TEACHERS HAVE MONEY AT THE END OF THE MONTH

 
According to the results of the survey, 87.50 percent of the teachers who participated in the research stated that they did not have any money in their accounts or pockets at the end of the month, 12.50 percent stated that they had some money left, 42.70 percent of the teachers could pay their credit card debts regularly, 19 percent. Teachers stated that they could not pay regularly, 23.30 percent could pay the minimum amount, 9.30 percent could pay as much as the amount left in their pocket, and 5.80 percent did not use a credit card.
 

59.30 PERCENT OF TEACHERS DEFINE THEIR ECONOMIC STATUS AS BAD

 
More than half of the teachers stated that their house was their own, while 39.50 percent of them stated that they lived in rented houses. On the other hand, 52.70 percent of the teachers who live in their own homes are out of debt, while 47.30 percent continue to pay their debts. While 59.30 percent of the teachers who participated in the survey defined their economic situation as bad, 38.70 percent defined it as medium and 2 percent as good. On the other hand, 81.90 percent of the teachers who described their economic situation as bad stated that the situation affected their family relations. While 42.50 percent of the teachers who participated in the survey pointed out that they did additional work related to their profession in order to be in better economic conditions, it was revealed that 14% did an additional job not related to their profession. The remaining 6.40 percent stated that they gave private lessons.
 
While 42.10 percent of the teachers who participated in the survey stated that they would not choose the teaching profession if they had the opportunity to choose a profession again, the rate of those who said they would definitely choose it was 27.40 percent. While teachers do not want their children to be teachers at the rate of 71.40 percent, the rate of those who do is 8.70 percent. When the participants of the research were asked about the most negative situation related to their profession, it was stated that the most prominent situation was to be exposed to nepotism with 46.50 percent, and then to be exposed to discrimination, psychological violence, usurpation of rights and verbal violence.
 

TEACHING PROFESSIONAL LAW DID NOT MEET EXPECTATIONS

 
Regarding the Teaching Profession Law, 85.30 percent of the participants stated that their expectations were not met, while 13.50 percent stated that they were partially met.
 
The most emphasized point about the most essential nature of the participants participating in the research is; It was stated that the options "There should be regulations to increase the prestige of the teaching profession and to establish a solid ground for the status of the profession", "Economic rights should be regulated", "There should be a tool for gaining professional prestige" came to the fore.
