Although they teach in the same school and live in the same teachers' room, the difference in status reveals the distinction. Contracted teachers cannot benefit from the right to family unity, which is one of the rights of permanent teachers stemming from their status.
Problems with contracted personnel in public institutions devastate the working personnel. The problems experienced with the status difference between contract teachers and permanent teachers in the Ministry of National Education, which has the most personnel in the public sector, continue to deepen.
Contracted teachers cannot benefit from the right to family unity, which is one of the rights of permanent teachers due to their status. Contracted teachers working in the same school, in the same teachers' room with different status, cannot meet with their families because they do not have the right to family union. While the permanent teacher can spend time with his family after work, the contracted teacher continues his life away from his family.
In rare cases where optional transfers are accepted, contracted teachers work in a town far from their families and have to travel hundreds of kilometers a day. Announcing that the number of permanent teachers registered in Ministry of National Education Information Systems (MEBBİS) is 774,536 and the number of contracted teachers is 114,001, Ministry of National Education Minister Mahmut Özer reminded that 15,000 contracted appointments will be made in December.
EVEN IF STAFFED, PROBLEMS CONTINUE
Due to the difference in status, contracted teachers are forced to be away from their families by not being able to benefit from the right to family unity like many other rights. Stating that a fair arrangement is needed in assignment and relocation problems experienced due to status differences, the educators noted that serious differences arise with the status difference between contracted and permanent teachers.
