Reactions to the inadequate Teaching Profession Law continue to come. The union, on the other hand, directed that teachers working in official education institutions not attend the first classes on 1 November and make a joint press statement all over Turkey in order to call for changes and regulations in the Teaching Profession Law that will include the elements that should be in a professional law.

DECISION FOR ACTION WAS TAKEN AS A RESULT OF IGNORANCE TO CALLS

In the statement made by the union regarding the action decision, it was pointed out that the Teaching Profession Law, which was shelled by the Turkish Grand National Assembly at the beginning of February, did not meet the expectations, and that the deficiencies of the law should be eliminated and additional regulations should be made.

"At this point, we, as Eğitim-Bir-Sen, have decided to take action due to the fact that no concrete step has yet been taken to meet the demands and justified expectations of teachers, the loss of morale and motivation caused by uncertainty on education staff and teachers, and the insensitivity to appropriate and necessary regulation suggestions and calls," the union stated.

“STEPS MUST BE TAKEN ACCORDING TO EXPECTATIONS”

While expressing that the scope of the Teaching Profession Law should be expanded, it was underlined that other points that have problems, especially career steps, should be regulated.

"Expanding the scope of the Teaching Profession Law, eliminating its problematic aspects, especially career steps; It will prevent a law that has been brought to solve the career ladder problem that has been waiting for a solution for years, from becoming a new source of problems due to incompleteness and erroneous assumptions. It will increase the quality and efficiency of education if the responsible and authorized authorities do not remain indifferent to the demands of education employees, listen to the voices rising from the field, take decisions without ignoring the offers of education stakeholders, and the above-designed theory overlaps with the following practices. Quick steps to be taken in line with the expectations will enable the training staff to start work with high motivation," the statement said.
