Hundreds of thousands of teachers are trying to fill the shortage of teachers with paid teaching, which is described as 'wage slavery', while hundreds of thousands of teachers are waiting for appointment. Hundreds of thousands of paid teachers in schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education (MEB) come to the fore with the pressure and mobbing they experience in their workplaces, as well as the wages they receive. The wages of paid teachers are still below the minimum wage despite the hikes.

MINIMUM WAGE 4,250 TL BUT PAID TEACHER RECEIVES 2,211 TL SALARY

The education system, which turned into a puzzle board, caused tens of thousands of teachers to be victims. While problems arose in the system due to the wrong policies experienced in the appointment of teachers, this situation resulted around 700,000 teachers waiting for appointment and about 150,000 teachers shortage. MEB, on the other hand, is trying to solve the problem with paid teachers instead of solving the deep problem. The salaries of teachers, whose number exceeded 85,000, made them say ‘give up’. There were economic fluctuations and the minimum wage was 4,250 Turkish Liras (TL). In this period, when a paid teacher received a salary of 2,211 TL as a March salary, it caused reactions.

SALARY OBTAINED HALF OF THE MINIMUM WAGE DESPITE FULL WORK!

While the Ministry of National Education tried to fill the teacher shortage with paid teaching, not by appointment, even the minimum wage could not be achieved in salary payments. According to the hunger limit data announced by Türk-İş Labour Union, the hunger limit was 4,928 TL in March, while the low salaries of paid teachers who work in return for additional lessons cause reactions. In the salary information for March shared with our newspaper by a paid teacher, it is seen that his salary for the month of March is 2,211 TL. While the teacher reacted to the low salary he received despite attending his classes fully, he called for this problem to be solved as soon as possible.
