Temperatures approach all-time highs this week in Turkey

The hottest days of the week will be Wednesday in the western and southern parts of the country, and Thursday in the interior, temperatures will hover between 40-45 degrees.

Serdar Yıldırım, Weather Forecast Specialist of the General Directorate of Meteorology, said in a statement that the temperatures have been above seasonal normals in the southern and western regions since last week, and have dropped a few degrees in the interior.
 
"Starting from Tuesday, we expect the air temperatures to increase by 5 to 10 degrees in the dormitory, starting from the western parts. In the Marmara, Aegean and Mediterranean regions, it is 10 degrees above the seasonal norms on Wednesday, and we expect temperatures up to 45 degrees. Central Anatolia will reach the maximum temperature on Thursday," Yıldırım said.
 
Stating that 37 degrees Celsius in Istanbul, 42 degrees Celsius in Antalya and 43 degrees Celsius in Izmir on Wednesday are expected, Yıldırım said that on Thursday, the temperature in Ankara is expected to be 39 degrees.
 

RAIN IN THE EASTERN BLACK SEA AND EASTERN ANATOLIA

 
Stating that the northeastern parts of the country are partly and partly cloudy, Yıldırım said that local showers and thunderstorms are expected in the Eastern Black Sea, northeast of Eastern Anatolia, Samsun and Ordu in the afternoon and evening today.
 
Yıldırım warned those living in the inner and high parts of the Eastern Black Sea Region and around Erzurum, Kars and Ardahan to be careful.
 

IT WILL DOWN 10 DEGREES ON THE WEEKEND

 
Stating that the air temperatures will decrease starting from the west and northwest on Friday, Yıldırım said, "From Friday, temperatures will drop by about 10 degrees. The temperatures, which are well above the seasonal normals, fall below the seasonal normals and in places. Temperatures in Ankara will drop from 39 degrees to 29 degrees at the weekend."
