The opening of the 5th Ethics Council, which was jointly organized by "Hak-İş" Confederation and Turkish Writers Union (TYB) and held with the theme of Business Ethics, Working Life and Phases, was held yesterday.

The final declaration to be prepared after the two-day program will be shared with the public on Monday, 27 December (tomorrow).

Speaking at the opening of the program, "Hak-İş" Confederation Chairman Mahmut Arslan stated that they want solidarity to dominate social life, not competition.

"In industrial relations, we want 'fair sharing' to be respected and complimented, not 'high value'. We believe that labor and hard work should be adopted as the supreme value, not financial capital," he said.

Arslan stated that since the day they were established, they have built their employee-employer relations on a culture of consensus rather than a culture of conflict.

"We considered employers not as competitors to be defeated, but as social partners who work together and achieve together. Instead of the rhetoric of anti-capitalism, we advocated fair distribution and equitable distribution. As Hak-İş, we believe that a new world is possible. There are examples of this in our history and culture," he added.

ARICAN: “BUSINESS ETHICS IS AS OLD AS HISTORY OF HUMANITY”

The other host of the program, Ankara Social Sciences University Rector and TYB Chairman Musa Prof. Dr. Kazım Arıcan, stated in his speech that business ethics is as old as the history of humanity.

"From the first human to the first religious texts, all legal regulations are aimed at eliminating injustice. It can be said that the subject of morality, work ethics and working life is related to the nature of humanity. It will always be on the agenda. As long as humans exist, these situations will exist," he said.

"WE SHOULD GIVE SPECIAL ATTENTION TO BUSINESS ETHICS"

Arıcan stated that it is unacceptable to show Turkey among the countries with broken grades in commercial and economic life, despite the religion of Islam and traditions. We also need to pay special attention to this issue.
