Mustafa Kaya, Deputy Chairman of the Felicity (Saadet) Party for Foreign Relations, made evaluations for our newspaper about the military operations carried out by Russia against Ukraine the previous night. Pointing out that international law was violated with the attacks carried out by Russia, Kaya said, “Ukraine's territorial integrity cannot be violated. Whatever the annexation of Crimea is, this is what was done."
“FURTHER DANGEROUS STEPS MAY COME”
Expressing that such a reckless attempt in the 21st century is a threat to both the region and the whole world in terms of setting a bad example, "Putin's statement 'the collapse of the United Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) is the greatest disaster of the 20th century' and then making such an attack is a sign that the Kremlin has moved away from common sense and will take more dangerous steps from now on," Kaya added.
“YALTA MEETING COLLAPSED”
Stating that with this situation, the unjust international order established by England, America and Russia with the Yalta Meeting after the Second World War collapsed, Kaya continued his words as follows:
“The powers that shared the world among themselves with the Yalta Meeting are dragging the world into fire by presenting an international order devoid of rights and justice. With this logic, it is not possible for the current United Nations (UN) structure to intervene in injustices and unlawfulness in the world as it should be.”
"USA AND NATO'S EXPANSIONISM APPROACH IS A THREAT TO THE WORLD"
Underlining that Russia's expansionist attempts, as well as the United States of America (USA) and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)'s expansionist attempts, are another threat to the world, Kaya said “Russia is an important country in the region, but not everyone's owner. At the same time, the United States cannot be considered the world's gendarme."
“TURKEY SHOULD USE ITS RIGHTS FROM MONTREUX”
Stating that Turkey should take careful steps regarding this crisis, "Turkey, on the other hand, firstly, by using the rights given to it by the Montreux Straits Convention, should prevent Black Sea from becoming an even more problematic sea. It should continue to defend Ukraine's territorial integrity. At the same time, it should pursue open diplomacy with the countries of the region to ensure that conflicts and wars end as soon as possible. Turkey is a country that will be affected by these developments both politically and economically. It should approach the problem with a consistent, multilateral diplomacy and try to prevent it from further damaging the situation,” Kaya added.
