Crack appeared in the People’s Alliance in the local! The People's Alliance parties Justice and Development Party (AKP) and Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) came face to face in the city council. While the city council said 'stop' to the relative favour of the AKP's Çankırı Şabanözü mayor and the district mayor, the echoes of the favour were carried on social media. The mutual statements of AKP and MHP supporters led to comments of "local crack in the People’s Alliance".
AKP'S PROPOSAL REJECTED BY MHP'S VOTES
In the Şabanözü Municipal Council of Çankırı, the People's Alliance parties AKP and MHP came face to face. Allegedly, AKP Şabanözü Mayor Faik Özcan and AKP Şabanözü District President Uğur Soydaş wanted to turn their and their relatives' residential lands into commercial areas. The proposal, which was brought to the city council on January 12, was rejected by the votes of other members, especially MHP council members. The offer was rejected, but the repercussions did not subside. The debate between the MHP and AKP moved to social media.
DALYAN: "MEMBERS OF COUNCIL SAID STOP"
While confirming the allegations by making a statement MHP Şabanözü District President Ömer Dalyan said, “In the city council meeting dated January 12, 2022, the council members said stop to the efforts of the AKP district chairman and the mayor to convert the residential lands belonging to them and their relatives into commercial areas.”
The AKP mayor responded to Dalyan's statements again on social media.
MAYOR ÖZCAN: “OUR REQUEST WAS REJECTED”
After the MHP president's statement, AKP's Şabanözü Mayor Faik Özcan responded to the allegations on social media. Making a long statement, Özcan said, “Hopefully, our request for a higher school to be trained in the 2022/2023 academic year resulted in a positive result, but there were 2 conditions of the rectorate. 1- University building. 2- We were asked to deal with the accommodation problems of the students. As of today, we got our university building back from our old wedding hall, after long struggles and the judicial process. For the housing problem, we talked with many contractors, businessmen in our district and business people in the organized industrial zone to cooperate. We said that we, as the municipality, would provide all the convenience for students to build suitable 1+1 style residences. We have also approved all zoning requests with this approach. The demands of me and our district president's family to build a 1+1 style house were brought to the city council. Our request was voted on and rejected by our party members in the zoning commission due to personal enmities. We did not have a single demand or pressure for its approval."
