Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia, Turkey and Qatar agreed to "fight separatist attempts" in Syria. Lavrov, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and Qatar Foreign Minister Muhammed bin Abdurrahman Al Sani held a joint press conference after the Turkey-Russia-Qatar trilateral foreign ministers meeting held in the capital Doha. Stating that they signed a joint declaration at the meeting, Lavrov said that the targets of Russia, Turkey and Qatar regarding Syria were included in this declaration.
"Russia, Turkey and Qatar agreed to fight terrorism and against separatism attempts that threaten Syria's territorial integrity and the security of neighboring countries," Lavrov said.
Stating that the situation in Syria was discussed at the meeting, Çavuşoğlu emphasized that the fight against terrorist organizations such as DAESH and PKK / YPG was also discussed.
Pointing out that PKK/YPG attacks continue in northern Syria, Çavuşoğlu said, "PKK/YPG continues to target civilians in northern Syria and commit war crimes. More than 25 innocent Syrians lost their lives in terrorist attacks in the last 2 months. "Turkey will continue to defend Syria's territorial integrity, protect civilians and fight terrorist organizations."
