Non-governmental organizations began to show a reaction to the singer, whose words about the imam-hatips drew a great reaction. Anatolian Youth Association (AGD), Ministry of National Education (MEB), Conscious Teachers Association, ÖNDER Imam Hatip Graduates Association, Memur-Sen Confederation, Religious Affairs Union, Hak-İş Union and many other non-governmental organizations reacted to the singer's words.
Singer Gülşen, about whom an investigation was launched for her remarks towards imam hatip school graduates, was arrested by the criminal judgeship of peace to which she was transferred.
Members of the ÖNDER Imam Hatip Graduates Association initiated legal proceedings against the singer Gülşen in 81 provinces for ‘the words that made towards the imam hatip schools graduates’ at her concert.
SHE WAS FLAGING THE DEVIANCE IN HER CONCERTS
Gülşen, who frequently causes controversy with her concert shows and almost naked stage outfits, has garnered a great reaction with her targeting the imam-hatip graduates. Gülşen, who does everything to stay on the agenda, had previously raised the LGBTI flag on the stage and by saying ‘If you don't like it, let it go’, became the focus of criticism.
In a concert she gave in April, singer Gülşen's outrageous statements towards those who studied at the imam hatip schools were revealed. Gülşen's targeting of imam hatip graduates by using an irrational expression on the stage such as "He had studied at the imam hatip school before, his perversion comes from there" drew a reaction, while many non-governmental organizations reacted.
“I CONDEMN DISRESPECT”
Noting that the imam hatips are the apple of the nation's eye, the President of the Anatolian Youth Association (AGD), Salih Turhan, stated that many people who came from the imam-hatips have done many services for Turkey, and said, "The supporters of perverted mentalities that have received their support from abroad in the last days, the people who call themselves artists, at every opportunity, attacks to religious values. I condemn her disrespect, especially her baseless statements about our imam-hatip schools. Shame on you!"
“RECENTLY, A PROPAGANDA THAT REFUSES TO BE SUBJECTED TO ETHICS HAS BEEN CARRIED OUT”
Expressing his condemnation about the so-called artist's words about imam hatip graduates, Memur-Sen Confederation Chairman Ali Yalçın stated that the purpose of the singer was not just to sing, and said, “This so-called artist, who has no idea other than what political correctness has preached to her; her effort to make nudity and exhibitionism seem reasonable also reveals that singing is not her only concern. It is civilization and morality that determines where we act, how we stand and what we say. But we see that lately there has been a propaganda process that refuses to be subordinate to both, and even calls for rejection.”
“WE CONDEMN SO-CALLED ARTISTS”
Hak-İş Confederation issued a written statement pointing out that they condemned the disrespect and called for the relevant people to be held accountable before the judiciary. In the statement, "We condemn the so-called artists who make statements that target the religious and moral values of the society, that are provocative, discriminatory, and that incite hatred and enmity. It is never acceptable for artists who are the expected to be an example to society, to play with the nerve endings of the society and make fun of their values,” the statement said.
Stating that the graduates and members of Imam-Hatip schools will not allow these and similar deviants to be used as a material for their ugly propaganda and cheap way to stay on the agenda, Religious Affairs Union Chairman Ali Yıldız stated that there is a great cultural corruption and moral collapse in our society, and said: “The only surviving institution is the imam hatip schools in this corruptuion. When evaluated statistically, perhaps the least criminal group in our country is imam hatip high school graduates. However, with the media and certain segments' perceptions, even if a small number of them, or someone from the religious segment commits a crime by keeping the crime on the agenda, even by making an effort to show that all imam hatip graduates are committing this crime as well, they can be accused by affixing a label to the entire imam-hatip community and religious people. Such an approach and perspective is extremely objectionable and wrong.”
ARRESTED AND SENT TO PRISON
Singer Gülşen, who was investigated for her words about imam hatip high school students, was arrested by the criminal judgeship of peace to which she was transferred. The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an ex officio investigation within the scope of Article 216 of the Turkish Penal Code (TCK) due to Gülşen's remarks on the stage against imam hatip high school students. It was demanded that the suspect be arrested, taking into account the nature and nature of the crime charged, the current state of evidence, and the upper limit of the penalty written in the law regarding the crime. Gülşen, who was transferred to the Istanbul Criminal Judgeship of Peace after the prosecution proceedings, was arrested and sent to prison.
