Istanbul residents went to the polls again to choose the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor in the Renewal election.
Four candidates competed in the Istanbul elections and 10 million 560 thousand 963 voters voted in 31 thousand 342 ballot boxes.
Ekrem İmamoğlu, who won the election with a difference of 13 thousand 729 on 31 March, became Mayor of Istanbul with more than 700 thousand votes as a result of the renewed elections after the cancellation of Supreme Electoral Board (YSK).
Following the March 31 General Elections of Local Administrations, YSK issued a decision on May 6, and Istanbullites went to the polls. In the renewed election, Saadet Party candidate Necdet Gökçınar, People's Alliance (AKP) candidate Binali Yıldırım, National Alliance (CHP) candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu and Vatan Party candidate Mustafa İlker Yücel competed.
The candidate of the National Alliance Ekrem İmamoğlu received 4 million 690 thousand votes, the candidate of the People's Alliance Binali Yıldırım received 3 million 916 thousand votes and the Felicity (Saadet) Party candidate Necdet Gökçınar received 48 thousand votes.
